It acts with great intensity on the Mucous membranes; and also on the bones esp. Mastoid. Mucous membranes, become dark, red, spongy or ooze bloody mucus. Pains are BURNING-SMARTING, pungent or strangling, thread like, worse by cold water. Sensation of SORENESS and constriction. It seems suitable to those persons who are of lax fibres, weak, lazy, indolent, fat, red, clumsy, awkward and of unclean habits. Such persons are opposed to physical exertion, averse to go outside of their routine and get home sick easily. Old people who have exhausted their vitality esp., by mental work and poor living. Persons react poorly and are afraid of cold. Abstainers from accustomed alcoholics. Discharges are foul. Myalgia. Neuralgia. Deep abscesses. The circulation is sluggish and parts pinched remain in raised position for a long time. Shuddering, during pain or drinking. Fear of slightest draught. Marked tendency to suppuration in every inflammatory process. Prostration and feeble digestion of alcoholics. General uncleanliness of body. producing a sensation of constriction. Inflammation of petrous bone. Burning pains and general chilliness.

Take 5 drops in half cup of water 3 times a day or as prescribed by the physician OR

Medicate the globules and take 4-6 globules 3 times a day or as prescribed by the physician.

• Persons with light hair, blue eyes, nervous stout and plethoric habit.
• Children: dread open air, always chilly, refractory, clumsy, fat, dirty and disinclined to work or think.
• Desires to be let alone, wants to lie down and sleep.
• Constriction in fauces, throat, nares, chest, bladder, urethra, rectum.
• Burning and smarting pain. Pain in throat extending to ears as from pepper in throat. 
• Pain in distant parts on coughing eg bladder, knees,legs, ears
• Every stool is followed by thirst & every drink is followed by shuddering
• Burning is aggravated by application  of cold water & slightest draught of cold air
• Home sickness with red cheeks & sleepiness, much hot feeling in faces
• Bursting headache; worse, coughing.
• Burning and stinging in ears. Swelling and pain behind ears. Inflammation of mastoid. Tenderness over the petrous bone; extremely sore and tender to touch. Otorrhœa and mastoid disease before suppuration.
• Painful urination with severe burning in the urethra. Frequent urge and incomplete urination.
• Tonsilitis with burning, smarting pain, intense soreness, constriction of thoat with burning.
• Painful swelling behind the ear, extremely sore and sensitive to touch.
• Every stool is followed by thirst and every drink by shuddering.
• Nervous, spasmodic cough in sudden paroxysms as if head would fly into pieces.
• Swelling and pain behind the ears. Mastoiditis. Tenderness over petrous bones. 
• Blind haemorrhoids, with pain during evacuation. Haemorrhoidal tumours, with burning (bleeding).

MODALITIES:

• Worse: open air, uncovering, draughts. Dampness. Bathing. Empty swallowing. Drinking; worse throat or excited urination. After eating. Drunkards.
• Better: while eating, from heat, Continued motion.
